Finally! Here it is--my Bricks and Stepping Stones quilt--completed to the flimsy stage. Now it is ready for quilting.
I stayed up until 11:30 last night putting the borders on. I was afraid if I stopped, I might not finish it the next day. When you are on a role sometimes you need to keep pushing forward.
Today, I had two quilt holders. This quilt is large, 87" x 107". However, my helpers are different heights so one corner is folded over at the top. This quilt top is square, it is just too large and cumbersome to get a good picture of it at this stage.
Looking good and we can excuse the quilt holders. Did you have to put them up on chairs? You must have felt like you were stitching around those borders, like, forever.
ReplyDeleteThank heavens for the long arm when it comes to basting and quilting.
I should look at the pattern and see just how big you have to cut the bricks for one of these. I'm thinking it if it 3 1/2 inch strips then I may have a start of one of these then.
Very, very nice! This is going to be my next leaders/enders project after I finish my log cabins. I'm going to pull all of my blacks and whites sometime this week and cut a strip from each of them. I'll go ahead and strip them together and cut apart for the 4 patch halves. Then I can put them together and sew them to the bricks L/E fashion as I'm working on other things.
ReplyDeletethis is lovely, and lots large enough to wrap up in! lol
ReplyDeleteWow, there sure is ALOT of sewing in that top! What do you mean "finally" - didn't you just start this fairly recently? And, it is BIG!!! Good job - did a make a dent in your scrap pile???
ReplyDeleteCheers!

LOVE the color in this quilt. I also love the borders. You really did a great job. This will be a great quilt to just snuggle up in.
ReplyDeletevery nice--i love that pattern, so easy to do. But wow-you made it big! Is it going on a specific bed?
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt. You did a great job of laying out the bricks and stones.
ReplyDeleteI like that - my eye keeps following the steps, then moving over onto the bricks. :)
ReplyDeleteOhhhh, I love that quilt! The black and white four patches make the other colours sing! Well done!

Great quilt. I am impressed!
ReplyDeleteI love this! Like Nancy says, this will make a good L/E project. Hmmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteMy quilt-hangers are also lopsided, but at least they try.
Looks so good! I love the black and grey for the border. This is such a fun design, and a great way to use up scraps!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard it called a "flimsy stage" before- but I like the idea! It looks wonderful!
ReplyDeletehurray for a completed top! this is on my list of cutting scraps for-glad to see yours
ReplyDeleteWow! It's a totally gorgeous quilt Norma!! I love it...and it embodies all the best of scrap quilts..*VBS* COngratulations on a huge finish!! Hugs, Finn
ReplyDeleteThat's a great quilt. And with that many colors, it is bound to match every room. I like the idea of having black and white blocks intersperced with the color ones. The narrow black border helps tie everything in nicely.
ReplyDeleteJust beautifull.
ReplyDeleteNot a scrap to small for putting in a quilt :-)
