This is also my 314th post.
I am grateful for the friends I have made through this blog and look forward to continuing to "talk" to each one of you in the coming year.
I will leave you with a picture of my aunt taken this Christmas with her new quilt (my mother on the left, my aunt on the right). She wrote to thank me for the quilt and she mentioned that it was much too nice to use....but she has heard that if you don't use them, you don't get anymore! My mom has heard me say that if you don't use the quilts you get, you won't get more in the future. Do you suppose she passed on this bit of advise to her sister? LOL
.....they are learning--quilts are made to be used. After all, how can you feel the warmth and love transmitted from the quilt maker if you never wrap yourself in the quilt?
This quilt is called, Christmas Gratitudes and is from a pattern developed by JudyL who was inspired by Jeanne.
My gratitudes today are:
* Quilters who are willing share their patterns and inspiration with the rest of us.
* Family members who appreciate my work and aren't afraid to put my creations to use.
Congrats on your 2nd birthday and 314 posts..........weldone.........looking forward to more posts.........always a pleasure to know what is happening in your part of the world.....

Happy bloggiversary. We started about the same time, I just celebrated mine. I agree, if they don't use the quilts they don't get anymore. You are not supposed to put stipulations on gifts but I do put one stipulation on quilts and that is they have to use them. Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Lovely quilt!
ReplyDeleteWow, 2 years now? Time flies when you are having fun! And I know you are with this.....
ReplyDeleteYou had me giggling about your aunt's note--yes, it is pretty but you would not have given it to her if you didn't want it to be used and loved. If it gets worn out from love, you will make more!
I remember when you had that discussion with your mom about her lovely green quilt. I truly believe she took it to heart if she advised her sister of the same thing.
Happy bloggiversary!!
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree, quilts are to be used and loved into absolute shreads...

ReplyDeleteI love the quilt gift rule - I know a couple of folks that need to be appraised of it *s*
Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 2 years! I love your version of the Gratitudes quilt. I want to make one like it sometime. That green *is* a lovely shade for the color catchers quilt. I also like the quilt rule. I need to apply it to myself first probably :) There are some quilts I've made I just look at and haven't used. Time to break them in and love them up.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on two years of blogging. I am much newer to it than that. I am also in BC and wanted to say hello!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your second bloggiversary Norma. It has been entirely wonderful getting to know you via your blog, and I look forward to many years more.

ReplyDeleteYour Christmas Gratitudes is lovely -- I smile whenever I see another Gratitudes quilt.
Jeanne :)
Happy Blogaversary! I like your rule...use it or no more! Now if I could get my 92 yr old grandma to understand it.....
ReplyDeleteHappy 2nd blog-versary! So glad I've found your blog so I can be among your readers.
ReplyDeleteThe very sad thing about quilts that don't get used - they get FOLD LINES, gasp! So, I tell everyone that I give a quilt to - they have to be sure to spread it out on the bed and sit on it and sleep under it so it doesn't get those dreaded fold lines!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Evelyn
Happy Anniversary - I've been here since the beginning reading about everything you do. Has it really been two years?
