Banana Bread and the Wicked Easy Quilt

My sewing machine quit part way through yesterday's workshop. There was a short in the power cord. I have ordered a replacement cord but it hasn't arrived yet. Since piecing was out of the question today, I had to amuse myself with other activities--after the laundry and vacuuming of course.
I was chatting with Linda J. this morning and we were talking about baking. The discussion ended up with us agreeing that a recipe that included chocolate would be a great idea today. I had bananas to use and I added chocolate chips to the banana loaves I made to be sure and make this a "chocolate Sunday"! I believe Linda J. was making chocolate cake. We wanted to meet for coffee but the distance between us only allows for chats over the Internet and each of us in our own houses with our own cup of coffee. Maybe one day the virtual coffee break will become a reality!

Banana bread has been a favorite in my household for many years. My kids deliberately stop eating bananas when there gets to be only three left in the bowl. They know if they leave them so that they over ripen mom will turn them into banana bread!

I also finished the hand sewing on my Wicked Easy quilt. This project was started in February and finished in March--I don't think it even made it to the UFO stage because I didn't leave it to "season" on the shelf!

  1. Oh I LOVE the Wicked easy quilt! Your colors are wonderful. I usually make banana muffins as my family cannot be bothered to CUT the bread. ::;sigh:::: I freeze the over ripe bananas. Family story has it that my husband opened the freezer door once and an old black banana hit him on the foot. He looked at it and asked "WHAT is it and WHY are we saving it!" They do make GREAT bread tho!

  6. Congratulations on finishing your wicked easy quilt.
The banana bread looks great. I guess a virtual coffee break is better than no coffee break at all. Makes me feel like baking so I can join you.

  9. I have been wanting to make banana bread with chocolate chips ever since the Starbucks around here started carrying the mini-loaves of banana chocolate chip cake. I guess I need to hide the bananas from Fred - he keeps eating them so none get overripe LOL!

  10. I can smell your banana bread. My bananas aren't quite ready to make some tho.

Have printed off the wicked quilt pattern--good to see one actually made. Looks good.

  11. Yep, Texas sheet cake for us and banana bread for you though I now have enough bananas to make some muffins up in the freezer. At least all the buttermilk minus about a quarter cup got used up--a skillet of cornbread, cake and pancakes took care of it.

Was the choc chips enough to satisfy that chocolate craving for you?

  12. Oh banana bread sounds good. I think I may just have three bananas at home and may now just leave them to age.
Is the wicked easy quilt a pattern I can purchase?
Thanks, Julie - a non-quilter at this moment, but thinking I may just need another hobby
