Back Yard Renovation

Today is a statutory holiday here in B.C.--it is British Columbia Day. I did the machine quilting on the binding for my Frog Warm Wishes quilt yesterday. Today I will be enjoying the pleasant weather as I sit outside and do the hand stitching of the binding to the back of the quilt.

The real news this weekend was finishing our outdoor patio area in our back yard. We now have plenty of room to have everyone sit around the table in the cool shade of our maple tree.

And of course, DH has discovered that this is also a quiet spot to read the morning paper!

This is our little oasis. We don't need a reservation and there are no line ups. This is our little piece of heaven.

  3. Happy British Columbia Day! I had forgotten that you had said that you had another Monday off.

DH has done a great job on the yard as it looks so inviting. Sitting under the shade tree is just the perfect spot for BBQ or the paper or that binding, weather permitting.

It is just downright oppressive here so I'll stay in the a/c with the fan on.

  6. Dear Norma, Lovely back yard! Thanks for your comment on my blog. I'd like to add your blog to my list. I used to live in Canada--Cape Breton Island in N.S. But that was a very long time ago. I now live in Calif.

And great job on the quilting on that African coins--what an unusual setting.

  10. The patio area looks wonderful Norma, I really like having an outside space to spend time reading or for meals. We have a small balcony at our apartment but I love spending time out there. Enjoy your space!

  11. Very nice area you have there! And it looks like you have a nice mix of sun and shade, too.

I also like that african coins quilt from the post before... I'll bet that quilt is harder to do than it looks, getting the fabrics to blend like that.
