I had last Friday and today off from work which gave me a 4-day weekend. It has been wonderful--like a mini vacation!
Sunday was Mother's Day and I had a fabulous day. Both my son and daughter helped out by doing some of the household chores. I spent the afternoon quilting. My son, daughter, and husband looked after cooking supper. We had my parents over for supper and we had a nice evening visiting with them.
As you can see by the cards below, both my kids have a sense of humor.
From my daughter:
I love the mug that my daughter gave me.
From my son and his girlfriend:
I love ladybugs and this sign and ladybug ornament from my son and his girlfriend are perfect!
My husband got me an I-Pod so that I can listen to quilting pod casts. This is something I have wanted for a very long time. I guess he was listening to me!
I believe I was spoiled!
I had quite a few finishes this weekend as far as quilting goes.
I finished the binding on my Parrot Building Blocks quilt. This was a pattern that Pam found on-line that was designed by Debbie Mumm. If you would like to make your own quilt, the pattern can be found here: http://www.debbiemumm.com/Projects/Quilting/2007/03/
My version is larger than Debbie's and finishes at 52" x 75".
I had purchased some frog fabric and coordinates some time ago. I decided that Warm Wishes was the perfect pattern to use up the fabric. Warm Wishes was a pattern featured in Quiltmaker Magazine in the November / December 2003 (No. 94) issue. The pattern can also be found on line at: www.quiltmaker.com/patterns/patt4a.htm.
Oh, you were spoilled, I love it! Good for you, you deserve it! I like a good sense of humour myself! Those are some sweet looking quilts! I'm a lady bug fan too! Be well and happy quilting!
ReplyDeleteWow you have been busy. I am very impressed. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteGreat Mother's Day loot. We always do funny cards around here too. Much more fun.
What fun! And bravo to DH for picking up on the iPod. I love my iPod shuffle or my mp3 player for tunes when I walk--no video screen though. You got the souped up version. What cool kids too.
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy busting stash but then you need to make a little room from the quilt show vendor trip, LOL. What fun fabrics that turned into cool tops and quilts. Warm Wishes was perfect to showcase the frogs and the Ladybug fabric picks up those wonderful brights in Building Blocks. I know I am going to make more than one of those in my quilting lifetime too.
Glad you had such a productive "mini vacation" Norma because there is so much going on at your house and at work lately.
How did you expand the Debbie Mumm building blocks to be bigger? I think it's cute but crib size is smaller than I'd probably want to make it.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a perfect Mother's Day.
ReplyDeleteWhat quilting podcasts do you listen to?
Gifts and quilts - does it get any better? Sounds like a wonderful Mother's day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great Mother's Day you had! I enjoyed mine, too, and guess what... my hubby gave me an iPod, too! I was totally shocked. I expected only a card. Did you get the little squishy "treat" I sent you for commenting on my 100th blog? Hope so!
