Bricks and Stepping Stones - Completed Flimsy

Finally! Here it is--my Bricks and Stepping Stones quilt--completed to the flimsy stage. Now it is ready for quilting.

I stayed up until 11:30 last night putting the borders on. I was afraid if I stopped, I might not finish it the next day. When you are on a role sometimes you need to keep pushing forward.

Today, I had two quilt holders. This quilt is large, 87" x 107". However, my helpers are different heights so one corner is folded over at the top. This quilt top is square, it is just too large and cumbersome to get a good picture of it at this stage.

  1. Looking good and we can excuse the quilt holders. Did you have to put them up on chairs? You must have felt like you were stitching around those borders, like, forever.

Thank heavens for the long arm when it comes to basting and quilting.

I should look at the pattern and see just how big you have to cut the bricks for one of these. I'm thinking it if it 3 1/2 inch strips then I may have a start of one of these then.

  2. Very, very nice! This is going to be my next leaders/enders project after I finish my log cabins. I'm going to pull all of my blacks and whites sometime this week and cut a strip from each of them. I'll go ahead and strip them together and cut apart for the 4 patch halves. Then I can put them together and sew them to the bricks L/E fashion as I'm working on other things.

  8. I like that - my eye keeps following the steps, then moving over onto the bricks. :)

  17. That's a great quilt. And with that many colors, it is bound to match every room. I like the idea of having black and white blocks intersperced with the color ones. The narrow black border helps tie everything in nicely.
