I have not been quilting; but I have been working on a quilt-related activity. I have been trying to trouble shoot what is going wrong with my long arm. I am getting thread breakage and bird's nests on the back of my current project. What takes me minutes to stitch is taking hours to frog. I have about 5 rows left to complete on a queen size quilt for a customer and I would just like to get the job finished!
After work tonight I am going to try again to figure out what is going wrong. Wish me luck!
Sounds frustrating. Good luck with finding the problem and fixing it.
ReplyDeleteI WISH I knew about longarm machines. But stepping away from it might clear your head on the problem. Let us know how it comes out. One of these days, I'd like to own one, I'll tuck the knowledge away.

Oh dear - don't you just hate that! I can't believe how picky our longarms can be sometime. I don't have any suggestions for you as I don't know what you've already tried - but wishing you good luck at solving the problem quickly!

check the tension
check for blockage - do long arms have to be cleaned like regular machines?
is your thread the problem? how about the needle?
did you put the pressure foot down? - don't know if long arms have those
When everything fails, I usually just turn it off, pat it gently and give it a rest. Maybe it is just tired.
